East Knoxville Community Meeting with District Attorney General Charme Allen

Today, the East Knoxville Community Meeting was held at the Burlington branch library at 1 pm. Our Knox County District Attorney General Charme Allen was the Speaker.

Allen informed the attendees of the different units. Allen created three victim units, Child Abuse, Elder Abuse and Domestic Vioence Units.

In 2015 the Elder Abuse unit investigated a potential 759 cases. In 2016 they have reviewed 700 cases already.

In 2016 the District Attorney has 73 trials. The District Attorney’s office enjoys an 80% conviction rate.

The two most prosecuted crimes by the District Attorney General’s office is DUI and Domestic Violence. A victim of domestic violence will call and begin the process 7 times before they ever pursue prosecution to conclusion.
